Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday led an intensive on-ground inspection at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal, which is one of the city’s most severe air pollution hotspots, as part of the government’s Winter Action Plan 2025.

The visit marked a renewed push by the Delhi Government to strengthen pollution-control measures across the city’s 13 identified hotspots through targeted enforcement, dust mitigation, and real-time air quality monitoring.

He also inspected the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s (DPCC) Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station at the site to assess real-time data and compliance levels.

Taking note of an unpaved stretch at the terminal entrance, left incomplete for years due to the presence of three small trees, the minister termed it a “classic example of bureaucratic neglect by previous governments.”

Furthermore, he instructed the officials to immediately begin the process of tree transplantation and complete the roadwork to ease vehicular movement and reduce dust emissions.

“This key stretch at Anand Vihar has been closed for decades. Our government will now ensure it is opened for public commute, easing congestion and curbing local dust emissions,” Sirsa said in his statement.

“Under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, Delhi is witnessing real, measurable progress in pollution control and infrastructure improvement,” he further added.

He further directed the DPCC, PWD, and Transport Department to deploy additional traffic personnel to manage congestion, ensure buses halt only at designated bays, and operate movable anti-smog guns and mist sprayers during peak pollution hours. Broken pavements and unpaved stretches contributing to dust were also ordered to be repaired as a priority.

Sirsa announced that similar inspections would soon be carried out at other hotspots, including Ashok Vihar and Punjabi Bagh, as part of the ongoing winter pollution control campaign. “Each hotspot has unique challenges, and our teams are addressing them scientifically.”

“The coordinated efforts of civic bodies, enforcement agencies, and citizens are driving real progress toward cleaner air,” he said.
